On September 30, Shochiku Games announced the release of a new free demo for the witch-themed adventure game *REKA*, developed by Emberstorm Entertainment, for PC (Steam).
Experience the witch’s slow life ahead of the full release
In this crafting adventure, players take on the role of Reka, an apprentice to the legendary witch “Baba Yaga,” and travel alongside a “walking magical house” with bird-like legs while learning magic.
Set in a procedurally generated, autumnal forest, players can gather materials along the way to build and decorate their house to their liking. You can enjoy life as a witch by taming wild animals to become companions and accepting quests from villagers.

The game launched in Early Access on Steam in September 2024. While the full release was originally scheduled for August 18, 2026, it was postponed to address bugs and other issues and to further polish the game; it is now scheduled for release on October 26.
The free demo released this time reportedly incorporates bug fixes, performance improvements, and various adjustments based on player feedback received over the two years since the previous release.
In the demo, players can experience Chapter 1, which marks the beginning of REKA’s journey, and will be able to explore the forest, practice magic, and build a magical house. Additionally, save data can be carried over to the full version, allowing players to take their first steps on their journey as a witch ahead of the upcoming official release.

"REKA" is currently available in Early Access for PC (Steam). It supports Japanese, and the full release is scheduled for October 26.
