This time, I’m playing the PC version of *The Drunken Rogue and the Last Vampire*, developed by 2.6 Billion Years Studio and published by Wakuwaku Games! This deck-building roguelike follows Rita, a hard-drinking rogue, as she sets out to conquer a dangerous dungeon with a bottle of liquor in hand.

I’m the type who stays perfectly level-headed no matter how much I drink, so I’ve always been a little envious of situations where you get so drunk that you black out and wake up the next morning in a dumpster…

◆ The Drunker You Get, the Stronger You Become! Conquer Dungeons with the Power of Alcohol!

As Rita travels through dungeons around the world, she arrives at one rumored to contain rare liquor. She’s a hard-drinking adventurer who never lets go of her bottle, even in the midst of an adventure. However, a momentary lapse in concentration leads to her having all her liquor stolen. Oh no—at this rate, she’ll sober up and come to her senses!

In the dungeon, an event occurs every turn. The first event is a battle against a snake that requires 8 Combat Points.

Rita’s current stat is added to the result of a dice roll, and the total determines success or failure. In this case, 8 Combat points are required, and Rita’s Combat stat is 8. Regardless of the dice roll, she is 100% guaranteed to succeed.

You’ll make your way toward the lowest level while completing events like this.

In addition to Combat, stats include Knowledge, Lockpicking, and Agility, and the stats required for each event vary. It’s best to distribute the stat boost points you receive upon leveling up evenly across all stats.

And the game’s most distinctive feature is the “Drunkard System,” where the drunker you get, the stronger you become. When you first enter a dungeon, your drunkenness level is maxed out, but as turns pass, you gradually sober up.

The higher your drunkenness level, the greater the bonus to your success rolls, and the higher the chance of seeing hallucinations. When you’re drunk—well, even terrifying monsters start to look like an old guy you know, so you can defeat them without feeling any fear.

So does that mean Rita just goes ahead and beats up that old guy she knows without hesitation?

However, even if you max out your remaining points and rely on the power of alcohol, there will be enemies you simply can’t defeat with your current stats. That’s where the “postpone” system comes in handy.

If you postpone a battle, you can ignore the event enemy and move on, but of course, there’s a risk. On the next floor, that enemy will reappear with a higher rank. The enemy gets stronger, but the rewards for defeating it also increase. If there’s a chance you can make up for your lacking stats, it might be worth deliberately postponing the battle.

It would be great if you could get an item like a bomb that instantly kills any enemy, or gear that boosts your stats—but if not… just give up, have a drink, and die.

Clearing the first dungeon unlocks a new character: End, the vampire.

Rita uses the points she gains when leveling up to make permanent enhancements. End, on the other hand, generates items called “Cursed Seals” when she levels up, allowing her to make significant—albeit temporary—enhancements.

Rita and End have different ways of getting stronger, but they both can’t do without alcohol in the dungeons.

In the later dungeons, you’ll encounter items whose true nature remains a mystery until you use them.

Well, obviously, you wouldn’t just go ahead and eat some mysterious weed without being drunk first.

I’ve been playing for about 30 hours.

The game combines an element of luck based on dice rolls and a character-building element through stat allocation with a unique system where “the drunker you get, the stronger you become.” What makes it fun is that even in situations you can’t overcome by simply getting stronger, you can find a way out by making strategic delays or using items.

How far can you go before you sober up? Which stats should you boost? And should you just go for it and use that sketchy-looking item on a whim…? It’s a game that lets you enjoy the kind of bold, boisterous adventure only a true drinker could experience.

Since I’m not the type to drink until I’m drunk in real life, I’d at least like to use the power of alcohol—even if only in the game—to venture deep into the dungeon.

*The Drunken Rogue and the Vampire of the End* is currently available for PC (Steam), with a Nintendo Switch version scheduled for release at a later date.
