On September 29, 2026, Nihon Ichi Software began rolling out the first free update for the life simulation game *Hono-Kura no Niwa*.
This life simulation game was developed by the team behind the “Yomawari” series. Set in the remote village of “Kigatsu,” the game gained attention for its unique world where players lead a rural lifestyle—including farming, raising livestock, fishing, and hunting—while an ominous atmosphere descends each night. This first free update introduces new furniture and livestock, along with new features such as farmland expansion and the “Furniture Catalog,” as well as various quality-of-life improvements.

Four new types of livestock, “Camp Series” furniture, and a convenient catalog feature have been added
The update adds four new types of livestock: “Ukokkei,” “Ducks,” “Fluffy Cows,” and “Spotted Goats.” These become available for purchase from street vendors once certain progress conditions are met.
Additionally, the “Camp Series” furniture—which becomes available for purchase at the general store after obtaining a pheasant hunting license—has been introduced, along with a new “Furniture Catalog” feature that allows you to reorder previously purchased items as if through mail order.
Furthermore, the “Farmland Expansion” feature has been added, allowing you to purchase new land and expand your cultivated area by meeting certain conditions. Please note that the events required to unlock the Furniture Catalog and Farmland Expansion will not occur during specific sections of the main scenario or on days with thunderstorms.

Various Quality-of-Life Improvements to Enhance Comfort
This update also includes numerous minor improvements designed to make daily life run more smoothly.
Fixed an issue where Ghost Cows would appear during weeks with the Livestock Show
Adjusted so you can view the remaining days on a scarecrow by keeping a close eye on it
Fixed an issue where crops within the scarecrow’s range would wither on the same day the scarecrow broke
Adjusted processing machines so that holding down the button allows for continuous loading and unloading
Fixed so that mowing grass when a Wild Hammer appears now yields grass roots and grass seeds
Improved so that you can change the orientation of a storage box when lifting it
Improved livestock behavior (*To be implemented at a later date for the Nintendo Switch version)
Improved so that the number of weeds ducks eat in rice paddies increases based on their affection level (*To be implemented at a later date for the Nintendo Switch version)
The two improvements—"Livestock Behavior Improvements" and "Increased Weed Consumption by Ducks"—are scheduled for a future update on the Nintendo Switch version only.
