The launch trailer for "DISK-Y," a minimalist retro visual novel created by game developer Bib, has been released.

This title is a spin-off of the horror visual novel *※This Game Is Not Real.*, which garnered 24,000 wishlist entries but ultimately abandoned plans for a Steam release.

A psychological horror game that explores the unstable mind of a transfer student

*DISK-Y* is a psychological horror game in which you guide “Yu,” a transfer student struggling with mental health issues, around the school and support her emotionally. Set in a school that represents the psyche, the game also features spiritual entities that take human form.

Whether to merge with Yū’s unstable mind or reject her is left to the player, “I.” While this title can be enjoyed on its own, it is said that playing the previous title, “※This Game Is Not Real.”, will allow for a deeper experience. Additionally, the more you delve into this world, the closer you’ll get to the hidden truth.

Another defining feature is its retro aesthetic reminiscent of the PC-98, featuring pixel art rendered at 320×240 pixels and background music generated by an FM sound source. The released trailer showcases unsettling conversations with Yuu and scenes that evoke the realm of the mind.

A single playthrough takes about 10 to 15 minutes, and the game includes a total of four endings: three standard endings and one hidden ending. Even if you aim to unlock all endings, the game can be completed in about 40 minutes.

"DISK-Y" is currently under review on Steam—a demo is also scheduled for release to coincide with the event

The previous title, *This Game Is Not Real.*, is a love-hate bromance exploration horror visual novel in which you guide the story toward “completion” through dialogue and debugging with a game developer suffering from cognitive distortions.

Although a Steam release was originally planned, after gathering 24,000 wishlist entries, the release platforms were changed toDLsiteandBOOTH (※Links contain 18+ content) on the grounds that it “did not meet Steam’s distribution standards.”

A Steam store page has been launched for the spin-off *DISK-Y*, and a demo version is scheduled for release in conjunction with the “PixelArtPark” event.

On X, Bibu reported that the game has surpassed 4,000 wishlist entries. He also revealed that it is currently under review, posting, “I wonder if it’ll get approved…” All eyes are on whether the game will finally achieve a full Steam release this time—something that didn’t happen with the previous title.

*DISK-Y* is scheduled for release in November 2026 for PC (Steam). The price is 330 yen. Additionally, at thePixelArtParkevent on October 11, the game will be featured at Yuji Ninomiya’s booth, where a floppy disk-style physical edition and a cassette tape containing the soundtrack will be available for pre-sale.
