#5—Developer Interview for the Abandoned School Visual Novel “Dissolution of the Silent Union”

We’re bringing you an interview with the developers of the abandoned school visual novel *Dissolution of the Silent Union*, developed by Umigame Studios.

This short visual novel follows Vera, who finds herself trapped on the final day of an abandoned school, as she heads toward the place where an unavoidable promise awaits. It’s characterized by a collage-like fusion of anime-style line art, pixel art, and live-action photographs. It was released for PC/Mac on July 29 and supports Japanese.

The game’s defining feature lies in its subversion of the traditional school visual novel formula. It transforms “the last day of school” into an eerie, time-trapped liminal space, visualizing it through a “mixed-media collage” that layers 2D anime illustrations over raw photographs and live-action footage. The developers explain that this idea was born from a desire to express the universal pain of parting with people once held dear.

Since its release, while some comments have described the story as “confusing,” the game has also received many warm responses. The developer mentioned that what personally pleased him most was when someone compared the game’s visuals to those of director David Lynch, saying, “It has a Twin Peaks-like atmosphere.”

No. 1—Demo Released for “Dungeon Traders,” a 3D Dungeon RPG Where You Create an Adventurer and Take on Underground Labyrinths with a Party

Studio Kobako has released a demo for the 3D dungeon RPG “Dungeon Traders” on Steam.

Set in the town of “Reichstadt,” this 3D dungeon RPG lets you challenge underground labyrinths with a party of six adventurers you’ve created. You can choose from a wide variety of character portraits, and the game also supports importing custom images.

In addition to your custom characters, you can hire powerful NPC “mercenaries” to join your party. While they are extremely powerful, they will take a cut of the loot.

Combat is turn-based, featuring a user-friendly design with no skill resources—only cooldowns—and full HP restoration after each battle. However, the dungeons also hide unreasonably strong enemies and dangerous treasure chest traps, so you’ll need to proceed with caution during your exploration.
