Konami Digital Entertainment released a video on September 25 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the *Castlevania* series, and speculation is spreading that a “3D Collection” may be released, based on a specific scene in the video.
"Castlevania" 40th Anniversary
*Castlevania*, released in 1986 for the Family Computer Disk System, celebrated its 40th anniversary today, September 26, 2026.
A commemorative video titled “Castlevania 40th Anniversary Celebration” was released on September 25, and the Famicom (ROM) version is currently available for free on mobile devices for a limited time.
“3D Collection”?
Amid this, overseas media outlets such asGameSpothave reported that a “3D Collection” for the series has been hinted at. The basis for this is said to be the commemorative video mentioned above.
The scene in question is around the 1-minute 20-second mark, where visuals from the series are displayed as paintings in the background. One is the latest title, *Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse*, scheduled for release on October 15, while the other three are titles originally released on platforms such as the PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360.
The report suggests that the paintings in this scene represent upcoming titles, and speculates that the three titles other than the latest release might be re-released in a “3D Collection”-style compilation.
It has been confirmed that the three titles are *Castlevania* for PS2 (2003), *Castlevania: Curse of Darkness* for PS2 (2005),*Castlevania: Lords of Shadow* (2010) for PS3, Xbox 360, and international PC.

It should be noted that prior to these three titles, a 3D game in the series was already released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. The international media outletNiche Gamerreports that some fans are hoping for a re-release of those titles as well... Attention is now focused on future announcements, including whether the “3D Collection” actually exists.
