Even 18 years after its initial announcement, development on *Beyond Good and Evil 2* continues. According to a report by IGN, the project is still active, and new staff members have been confirmed to have joined the team.

Odd sort of non-announcement, but for the past few months I’ve been working on *Beyond Good & Evil 2* in a support/consultant role. I’m allowed to say this—I checked.

Specifically, it was revealed via his social media that Rik Godwin, Lead Writer and Associate Narrative Director at Ubisoft Bordeaux, has been participating in the project as a support and consultant for several months.

Godwin is a seasoned veteran who has worked on multiple projects, including *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* and the *Ghost Recon* series. According to IGN, this move makes sense given that Ubisoft Bordeaux typically serves as a support studio for other studios, as well as its geographical proximity to Ubisoft Montpellier, which is leading the development of this title.

In 2024, conflicts among managerial-level staff were revealed as the reason behind the game’s development struggles, and the number of release delay announcements reached 30. In early 2026, Ubisoft announced the cancellation of several titles—but can this latest news be seen as a cause for relief, at least for now?
