On September 24, Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games, revealed in its financial results for the fiscal year ending June 2026 that it had decided to cancel development of the RPG *ARMED FANTASIA*, developed by Wild Bunch Productions.
After repeatedly reviewing the gameplay,
this title is a turn-based RPG intended to be the spiritual successor to the classic “Wild Arms” series, with Akifumi Kaneko—who worked on the “Wild Arms” series—serving as the lead game designer.A joint Kickstarter campaign with *PENNY BLOOD* had been underway since 2022, raising approximately 379 million yen from a combined total of 17,920 backers for both projects.

In the financial report recently released by Digital Bros, it was stated that, in addition to this title, development on the sequels to “Directorate: Novitiate” and “Battle Island” has been canceled. The report explains that after reviewing the gameplay of each title multiple times, the company considered changes in the market environment and the additional investment required to complete them.
Meanwhile, in Wild Bunch Productions’ March 2026 report, it was stated that Mr. Kaneko had submitted a vertical slice (ROM) containing the main scenario and basic specifications to the publisher. At the time, he noted that the disclosure of information was subject to the publisher’s policies and contractual restrictions, but the identity of the publisher had not yet been revealed.
As of the time of writing, no explanation regarding this matter has been posted on Wild Bunch Productions’ official website. We await future announcements, including the possibility that development may continue in a different form.
