Rotub Games (Rohan Nowell), an independent developer based in Sydney, Australia, has released “Doggy Don’t Care,” a 3D comedy adventure where players take on the role of a mischievous dog, for PC (Steam).
The game has been dubbed the “Pug version of *Untitled Goose Game*” on social media. Players take on the role of “Charlie,” a pug left at home while his owner is away, and explore the house, collect items, solve puzzles, and get up to all sorts of mischief to their heart’s content.Developer Rohan Nowell says he got the idea for the game from his anxiety about actually owning a dog.
“‘Doggy Don’t Care’ was born out of my anxiety about owning a dog. Even before getting one, I imagined chewed-up furniture, annoyed neighbors, and total chaos. So, I turned that anxiety into a game.Players take on the role of a very well-behaved yet very mischievous dog who causes all the trouble I was afraid of.”

Five Unique Areas and Over 100 “Mischief Badges”
The game features five vibrant, interactive environments—including a farm, a museum, an office, and a carnival—all set outside the home. In each area, creative puzzles await players using items they discover, and clearing them earns “Mischief Badges.”With over 100 different badges available, the game also offers a fun collection element.

Additionally, five unique bird companions appear in the game and challenge players with playful tasks. As you complete the challenges they set, new ways to explore are unlocked.

Furthermore, there are 14 unlockable pajama-style costumes called “Pajamas,” allowing players to change their appearance as they play. And the game’s trademark feature—the ability to “pee anywhere”—is still very much intact, making this a title where players can truly enjoy the world from a dog’s perspective to their heart’s content.

Completed After Three Years of Development and Two Government Grants
After releasing the mobile game *Swoopy Boi*, Nowell left his 10-year career in web development to devote himself entirely to indie game development. Three years were spent developing this title.During development, the game was selected for prominent indie showcases such as SXSW Sydney and Day of the Devs in San Francisco.

Furthermore, the production team was strengthened by receiving $30,000 from Screen NSW and $100,000 from Screen Australia—both Australian public funding agencies—which allowed them to hire external creators to improve the quality of the graphics and sound.
“Being selected for SXSW Sydney and Day of the Devs in San Francisco made me realize this was no longer just a side project. I quit my part-time job to focus on development full-time, and subsequently received two grants from Screen NSW and Screen Australia. After three years of development, we’re finally releasing the finished version. I hope the passion we’ve poured into it comes through.”
