Bethesda Softworks announced that “Quake Champions,” the arena FPS jointly developed by id Software and Saber Interactive and converted to a free-to-play model in 2018, has transitioned from a “free-to-play” model to a “one-time purchase” model.
This game is a fast-paced arena shooter that blends the dark atmosphere of the original *Quake* with the skill-based competitiveness of *Quake III Arena*. Players control “Champions,” each with unique traits and abilities, to take on battles.

Battle Pass and microtransactions have been removed
With the Version 1.31 update accompanying this transition, players can not only enjoy 30 seasons’ worth of content, but all Champions have been unlocked for all users, and most cosmetic items are now available for use. The Battle Pass and microtransactions have been removed. Additionally, no further updates with additional content are currently planned.
