Independent developer Ozymandias has announced that “Idle Monkey Theorem,” an incremental game currently in development, will be released on PC (Steam) on September 24 (Japan Time).

A monkey, a typewriter, and a quill pen

This incremental game is based on the “Infinite Monkey Theorem”—a thought experiment in which a monkey randomly types on a typewriter to see if it can accidentally produce works such as those by Shakespeare.After releasing a demo at the 2026 Steam Next Festival, the developer has been refining the gameplay experience and adjusting the progression balance, and the game is finally set to be unveiled.

In the game, you can unlock and upgrade up to 50 typing monkeys, keeping them at work on their typewriters. The objective is to collect words—using a quill pen—as soon as you see on screen that one of the monkeys has typed a word used in a Shakespearean work, thereby completing the actual text.

Depending on how well the monkeys work, you’ll earn Inspiration Points. You can use these to strengthen your monkey army by increasing the number of monkeys, improving their word-generation abilities, or expanding the range of the quill pen’s collection.
