"ARC Raiders" Unveils Details on Its Biggest Update Ever, "Frozen Path": New Map, Hideout Expansion, Grappling Hook, Selfie Camera, and 3 New Enemy Types! Available October 8

Embark Studios has revealed details about the major update for the PvPvE escape shooter *ARC Raiders*, titled “Frozen Path,” scheduled for release on October 8.

New Map “Pendra Pass” and the Gigantic “Frigate”

Set on a desolate Earth ruled by mysterious mechanical lifeforms known as “ARCs,” this PvPvE escape shooter puts players in the role of “Raiders”—residents of an underground colony—who must retrieve resources.

With the release of the major update “Frozen Path”—announced in August 2026—approaching on October 8, detailed content highlights have been revealed. Numerous new features have been unveiled, including new locations and threats stretching beyond the Last Belt, as well as hideout expansions and weapon customization.

The new map, “Pendra Pass,” is an area consisting of an old Italian village and an Exodus transport hub located beyond the mountains surrounding the Last Belt. It is said that this location came to light after Celeste and Shani investigated the source of a strange signal echoing throughout Toledo.Dotted throughout the frozen landscape are remnants of the Old World—such as a supermarket and a deserted town square—along with an observatory that once served as a major transportation hub for the Exodus Project and a buried train depot.

The main reason Raiders are heading here is the crash of an Emperor. It’s believed that rare technology lies dormant inside, so you’ll need to find a way in while navigating the chaos within the ARC and evading the rapid freezing that plagues the valley.

In response to this unprecedented Emperor crash, the ARC has dispatched its largest-class vessel to patrol the region. Known to raiders as the “frigate,” this ship is considered a major challenge for seasoned raiders.Once you’ve found a way aboard, you’ll need to navigate the internal corridors to unlock pathways while defending yourself against both old and new ARC forces.

Furthermore, you won’t be the only ones targeting the frigate; to move forward, you’ll be forced to choose between cooperating with other raiders or eliminating them. When cornered in a confined space hundreds of feet above the ground, you’ll need to adopt a different approach than before.

Three new enemy types, including the charging “Bree” and the ambushing “Skulker”

In “The Frozen Path,” three new enemy types, each with distinct combat behaviors, will be deployed.

First up is “Bree,” a machine-learning-based enemy. This aggressive foe charges relentlessly toward the player, unleashing a variety of attacks without backing down even an inch—requiring players to use cover while timing their counterattacks.

In contrast, the “Skulker” moves along the edges of your field of view, waiting for the right moment to launch a surprise series of attacks. If you lose focus even for a moment, it will retreat out of sight, so you must never let your guard down.

The “Hydra” is a turret-type enemy consisting of three stacked autonomous units. Although it does not move, it can engage the entire team with three types of weaponry and is positioned inside the frigate. Tactical approaches—such as distracting it, quickly taking cover, and launching a swift attack when the opportunity arises—are essential.

“Outpost” Hideout Expansion and “Amplified Weapons” That Alter Weapon Behavior

As an expansion to the Raider Hideout, “Outpost”—a second base provided by Celeste to Raiders exploring Pendra Pass—has also been introduced. Located between the Last Belt and the mountain range, it can be customized with various modules and decorated with furniture.

Researching new elements of the world at the Research Workstation will grant access to higher-level weapon customization and modifications. The development team views the Outpost as the starting point for future expansions and aims to ultimately make it a deeply personal space for players.

“Amplified Weapons” have been introduced as a mechanic that will transform late-game combat. This upgrade system was developed in response to the situation where seasoned raiders tend to stick to their favorite weapons, leaving others largely unused. By using a fully upgraded research workstation at the Outpost, players can access the fifth quality level for various firearms.

This unlocks abilities that significantly alter weapon behavior, as well as branching upgrade paths, enabling customizations such as the fully automatic “Beretta,” the scoped “Renegade,” and the “Rattler,” which features incendiary rounds and a 64-round magazine. The update initially covers 15 weapon types, with more planned for the future.

New weapons include the “Stiletto,” an easy-to-handle battle rifle that uses small-caliber ammunition, and the “Bantam,” a snub-nosed revolver that uses large-caliber ammunition and excels at hip-fire.

Additionally, new gadgets will expand the range of movement and combat options, including the “Grappling Hook,” which allows players to climb to high places and rappel down; the “Tether Launcher,” which connects targets with a wire; the “Yank Grenade,” which powerfully pulls nearby targets toward the player;and the “Camera,” which features zoom and selfie functions.

Furthermore, the harmonica and banjo have been added as playable instruments, along with “Weapon Stencils” for customizing weapon skins. A new progression system called the “Rewards Pass,” an evolution of the Raider Deck, will also be introduced.

*ARC Raiders* is currently available on PC (Steam/ Epic Games Store /Microsoft Store) /PS5/XBOX Series X|S. The major update “Frozen Path,” which includes a new quest line, a reworked skill tree, and new map conditions, is scheduled for release on October 8.
