On September 23, Bone Nail and 2P Games released *The Piper at Dawn* for PC (Steam).

As an alchemist, you hold the fate of the “Diamond Castle” in your hands

This story-driven management simulation is set within the sealed “Diamond Castle.”

Developer Bone Nail is the studio known for *The Garden of Cthulhu*, which blends "beautiful girls" with the Cthulhu Mythos, and this new title follows a similar style. That game was localized into Japanese in July 2026, and Game*Spark has published a play report and interview article about it.

In *The Piper at Dawn*, players take on the role of an alchemist with extraordinary talent, managing their own workshop, exploring the underworld, commanding a workforce known as “Hitoshiba,” and navigating the political maneuvering among six intricately intertwined factions and a cast of cute characters. And through the repeated “reminiscences,” you will determine what fate awaits this town.

Throughout the game, you’ll encounter a diverse cast of characters with varying backgrounds and goals, including “Akane,” a tavern waitress with natural superhuman strength and a knack for farming; “Nana,” a “Human-Shiba” overseer with a sharp mind and exceptional combat skills; and “Gretel,” a “human-type occult trigger”“Gretel,” who boasts a large pink-gold tail and overwhelming marksmanship.

The stories for each character aren’t standalone “affinity” stories; rather, they’re closely intertwined with the secrets of the Diamond Castle, the conflict among the six major factions, and the truth behind “Memories.” Who will you trust? Who will you help? And who will you choose to have by your side in the end? Those choices will lead the story to different endings (multiple endings).

While others toil in the fields above ground, the player’s work takes place underground. Simply clearing away weeds and crushed stone yields diamonds that serve as starting capital, and the farm features over 100 types of crops with random stats. You can freely combine features like high yield, growth acceleration, and automatic watering to manage your farm.

When you’re tired of managing the farm or doing farm work, it’s time for the “Hitoshiba”—a labor force that sprouts from the ground—to step in. You can leave all the farm work, alchemy, and shop management to them, freeing up your hands completely.

If their SAN value drops from overworking them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, simply toss them into the underground apartment to let them sleep it off overnight, and they’ll recover. The game even features a “Release into the Wild” function that mercilessly sends any individuals who slack off back out into society. If you focus on training the remaining high-performing individuals, the path from “Human Shiba” to “Firewood King” is reportedly not that far off.

In your shop, you can freely arrange counters and shelves, and if you make a name for yourself among the six major factions, non-human customers will hear the rumors and come knocking.Sometimes, they’ll even sneak high-priced orders onto your list. By honing your alchemy skills through the “Tree of Creation” and listening to the whispers of the ancient gods, you can combine “Oracles” that produce unconventional effects.

In addition, features such as card games and “Ancient God Fishing” are available, with a rich, expansive story and over 40 unique NPCs awaiting you.
