The “Tokyo Game Show 2026” was held over four days starting on September 17. In this article, we bring you a hands-on report on the indie title *Wild Wild Eden*, which was on display at the Malaysia Pavilion.

The Malaysia Pavilion was bustling with energy, and the booth for this game was handing out merchandise—such as keychains featuring its adorable characters—which caught the eye of many attendees. Drawn in by the atmosphere, I wandered over to the demo station and decided to give it a try.

As you can tell at a glance, this title strongly reflects the recent survival-crafting boom—particularly the influence of games like *Palworld*. However, when you actually look at the screen, you’ll notice that the stylized design of the characters and the world is completely different, giving it its own unique art style and atmosphere. The outlines are slightly more pronounced, giving it a comic-book-like feel.

During the demo, I was able to play through the early part of the game, which serves as the introduction. The basic gameplay loop involves running around a vast field, chopping down trees, breaking rocks to gather materials, and crafting workbenches to build your own base—a classic and familiar system for this genre. You could say it’s “the usual,” but the response to various actions is excellent, allowing me to immerse myself in the game’s world smoothly and without any confusion.

What left a strong impression on me, even in that short playtime, was the quality of the graphics. Despite being an indie game, the depiction of the natural environment and the rendering of light were beautiful in a way that went beyond mere “realism”—I was surprised by the rich visual presentation, which, in a good way, didn’t feel like an indie title at all.

Unfortunately, given the limited time of the demo, I wasn’t able to fully grasp the game’s full scope or the developments toward the end. However, based on the overall quality of the gameplay experience, I feel it has plenty of potential as a standard, casual survival-crafting game in the vein of *ARK: Survival Evolved*.I also caught a glimpse of depth-of-play elements, such as the extensive skill tree.

I’m curious to see how interactions with the game’s compelling monsters and base-building mechanics will evolve. While there are still many unknowns, this has become one of those titles I’m eager to watch unfold—without rushing—as it heads toward its official release.

“Wild Wild Eden” is scheduled to enter Early Access for PC (Steam) in the spring of 2027.
