The film grossed $60 million in the U.S. during its opening week and $108.3 million worldwide, marking the series’ strongest opening to date.

This live-action film, *Resident Evil*, is billed as “a new *Resident Evil* unlike anything you’ve ever seen.” While several live-action *Resident Evil* films have been made in the past, this is a completely original story with no connection to them. It depicts the extraordinary fate of Brian, a man who was supposed to be merely delivering medical supplies.

Deadlinereported that the film spectacularly claimed the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office over the weekend. The film, released in 3,684 theaters across the U.S., recorded box office receipts of $26.55 million on Friday, $20.25 million on Saturday, and $13.20 million on Sunday, reaching a three-day total of approximately $60 million.

It is also reported that the all-time series record is held by 2016’s “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” which grossed $312 million.

The live-action film “Resident Evil” is scheduled for release in Japan on October 9.
