"Project A-Life," a mod for *Project Zomboid* inspired by the "A-Life" system from the *S.T.A.L.K.E.R.* series, has been released.

NPCs Act Spontaneously

In this mod, NPCs and factions are simulated regardless of whether they are online or offline (on-screen or off-screen).They patrol, raid, secure bases, and search for supplies; they remember players and continue to act independently—issuing warnings, looting, or regrouping—even when the player isn’t present. This brings a “living world” to *Project Zomboid*.

Key Features

  • Factions with Their Own Objectives Cautious factions will issue warnings
before opening fire. Some will threaten you and steal your gear instead of killing you, while others will open fire immediately.

  • Tactically Active Units
You’ll encounter units that issue commands, storm locations, engage in suppressive fire, perform sniping, medics who treat the wounded, and riflemen who retreat when outnumbered.

  • A World
That Moves Even Off-Screen Units travel between towns along actual roads, engage in combat in places where no one is watching, and may return to seek revenge days after their comrades were killed.

  • Fortified outposts with
garrisoned troops, supplies, and radios. Intercept communications or initiate contact yourself to find out who’s coming.

  • Encounters and Raids
: Patrols, ambushes, checkpoints, rooftop snipers, occupied buildings, assassins, and full-scale raids on outposts occur.

  • Creator Mode: Create your
own NPCs and factions, then copy the entire faction as a shared code to your clipboard and send it to friends.

  • 105 Types of Sandbox Settings: You can freely customize the game, such as turning
roads into danger zones or drastically reducing the encounter rate with specific groups.

"Project A-Life" is currently available on the "Project Zomboid" Steam Workshop. It is reportedly compatible with the unstable Build 42.20. Please note that you install this at your own risk.
