v0lt is offering the FPS game "Deadshot" for free on Steam for a limited time until 2:00 a.m. on September 24. If you claim it during this period, you can keep it for free afterward.
A Retro-Style FPS Inspired by Classic Games
This retro-style FPS is inspired by classics such as *Half-Life*, *DOOM*, and *Quake*. The protagonist wakes up as a soldier in the midst of an apocalyptic situation caused by mutants and sets out to uncover what happened while taking down enemies one by one.
The game features three chapters comprising six stages, where you progress through various locations while searching for secrets and collecting items. It also includes seven types of weapons and five types of weapon attachments.
The game was released on Steam on September 18, 2024, and this 5-day free giveaway is being held to celebrate its second anniversary.
“Highly Rated” for Its Simple Yet Exhilarating and Addictive Gameplay
As of the time of writing (around 1:30 PM on September 19), the game’s Steam reviews—when limited to purchasers—show 100% of 10 reviews as “Recommend,” indicating “Positive.” When the filter is removed to include those who obtained the game for free, 85% of 80 reviews are “Recommend,” resulting in a “Very Positive” rating.
As for the content of the reviews, those assuming the game was obtained for free are notably prominent, but the game is praised for its fast-paced, exhilarating gameplay—which is simple yet addictive—as well as its retro visuals.
On the other hand, some reviewers point out that the gameplay is monotonous and can get boring quickly, and that the game suffers from poor balance.
“Deadshot” is currently available for Windows (Steam) for 655 yen. It’s being offered for free until 2:00 a.m. on September 24, and if you download it during this period, you’ll be able to keep it afterward.
