A board game adaptation of the highly acclaimed puzzle game *Baba is You*, released in 2019, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
Rule Modifications in the Board Game Version
“Baba is You” is a puzzle game where players can alter the rules using blocks within each stage. With a game system that is simple yet deep—allowing players to change the character they control or even alter the very conditions for clearing a stage—it stimulated players’ minds. The board game version, designed for two players, carries over this system; players must skillfully alter the rules to outmaneuver their opponent and secure victory.
Although the crowdfunding campaign for the board game version of *Baba is You* is being run in conjunction with the card game version of *Party House*—included in the retro-style game collection *UFO 50*—as of this writing, the total pledges have surpassed $275,000 (approximately 42.7 million yen)—well above the $15,000 (approximately 2.3 million yen) goal.
