Astrobard Games has released a Steam demo for the PC 2D fighting game *Generic Fighter Maybe*.
Previously noted for its unique knock-out system—a test program created as a hobby has evolved into a full-fledged development project

This game is a classic arcade-style, 4-button 2D fighting game that supports two-player gameplay. While it has a doodle-like appearance, it features comical, fluid animations and incorporates basic fighting game elements such as powerful combos, various defense mechanisms, and meter management.
Originally, the game was created as a hobby project that also served as a test for the game development tool “Sprite Anchor.” However, after it was released for free atitch.io, it garnered such a huge response that hundreds of players were playing it every day. The Steam version was developed as a result of this momentum and is a paid edition that includes additional characters, stages, and online features.

In the Steam demo, players can choose from three characters—the all-rounder “John Eric,” the rush-style “Zurkichin,” and the throw-specialist “Bortonte”—and play in local matches (player vs. CPU) or in training mode.
Although not yet implemented in the demo, the official X account showcased a system—part of the online multiplayer features—where “a special animation plays if an opponent quits mid-match.” The attached video shows the opponent’s character “escaping out the window,” and the post garnered over 3.6 million views, drawing significant attention.

The paid version of *Generic Fighter Maybe* is scheduled for release on Steam.
