"Kernel Hearts," a co-op roguelike ARPG for up to four players in which an Android magical girl battles "God," has been released. Players can also customize the game to suit their playstyle.

"Kernel Hearts," a roguelike action RPG developed by Ephemera Games and published by Whitethorn Games, has been released.

Magical Girls, to the Tower of Babel

In this roguelike action RPG, players join “M.A.H.O.U,” an android magical girl squad, to save a world sinking into ashes. The game supports both single-player and online co-op for up to four players.

Your goal is to climb the Tower of Babel while fending off angel-like monsters and defeat the “God” awaiting you at the summit. In the tower, which has approximately 7 floors (2 floors in the demo version), you can enhance your attacks and magic by combining abilities acquired on each run; if the abilities synergize well, you can unleash powerful combos on enemies.

Upon completing an exploration run, you return to a research facility located near humanity’s last stronghold. In addition to customizing your magical girl to suit your playstyle, the game reportedly features a mechanic that allows you to use the tower’s power to dispel curses and temporarily transform into a more powerful form.

Additionally, Game*Spark has published a play report on the Japanese demo from when the game was exhibited at “BitSummit PUNCH” in May 2026.

"Kernel Hearts" is currently available for PC (Steam/ Epic Games Store). Cross-play is supported across all PC versions. The game also supports Japanese. A console release has also been announced.
