On October 22, Arc System Works will release the character-development RTA simulation RPG *Demon’s Night Fever*.
This new SRPG is produced by Sohei Shinkawa, a former Nihon Ichi Software creator known for the “Makai Senki Disgaea” series and other titles.
The genre description on the official website reads: “Kill, kill, kill—both enemies and allies! The more you die, the stronger you get—a character-building RTA simulation RPG!” You might be wondering, “What kind of game is this, exactly?” but once you play it, you’ll see that the genre description holds true.
In this article, we’ll introduce you to this innovative SRPG!
The Tale of “Ak,” the Evil God and His Apostles
The story takes place on another Earth—one different from the one we live on… In the 6.66 millionth year of the
Cosmic Era, “Gigasgoides,” the strongest and most evil demon god—feared as a genius of evil and boasting immense magical power—was just one step away from slaying the gods when, one day, he suddenly turned into a “baby”!

Gigasgoides repelled the butler who had seized the opportunity to stage a coup. Just as I was wondering, “What on earth is going to happen now…?” he activated “Demon’s Night Fever”—a program he’d developed through an all-night marathon, anticipating exactly this scenario!
This is a game program designed to let the chosen apostles of the evil god relive Gigassgoides’ history, earn the “Vice Points” needed for his resurrection, and bring him back to life!By the way, apparently he felt there were limits to what he could do on his own, so he properly commissioned experts to handle the graphics and music. You’re quite the creator, aren’t you…?

The one chosen as the apostle for the evil god’s resurrection is “Kyoshiro Jaryuin” (not his real name), a programmer at a “black” game company who intensely hates the world. He possesses an extremely evil soul—as evidenced by the fact that he keeps a “Kill Note” where he jots down the names of people he wants to kill someday.

An evil god seeking resurrection and Jaryu-in Kyoshiro, who hates the world… The two form an alliance and take on “Demon’s Night Fever” with the goal of reviving the evil god—this is the story of “Ak.”
Wipe out enemies along with their minions, or sacrifice your own minions… This isn’t just combat! Go wild with your “evil deeds”!
Now then. To reiterate, the genre of this game is “Kill, Kill, Kill—Enemies and Allies Alike: A Leveling-Up RTA Simulation RPG Where You Get Stronger the More You Die.” The game system can be broadly divided into combat segments and leveling-up segments at your hideout. Let’s start by explaining the combat segments.
The game is based on a classic grid-based SRPG, so fans of the *Makai Senki Disgaea* series and similar titles will likely find it familiar.
A standout feature is the “Minion Exploitation System”! The game’s ally units—the “minions”—are supposed to be on your side, but they won’t follow your orders and act on their own. Depending on their actions, this can put you at a disadvantage…
That’s where the “Evil Deeds” command comes in.

With the “Evil Deed” command, you can use “Kill Skills” that deal massive damage to enemies or draw them in by “killing” a minion, “Teleport” to swap positions with a minion,or “Sacrifice,” which allows you to place an object that grants beneficial effects to your allies by sacrificing a minion—all part of these brutal and ruthless tactics.

Make full use of these brutal tactics. That is the shortest route to victory! No mercy…!
From shady “recruitment” to “stealing” items… commit misdeeds to earn points!
In the training segment at your hideout, you can accumulate “Vice Points” by committing misdeeds. These points are used for upgrades and for executing evil commands in battle, so there’s no downside to stockpiling them.
But here’s one thing to keep in mind. This game is structured into chapters, and each chapter has a time limit. Plus, there are bonuses for clearing them quickly, so “how fast you can clear them” is crucial. It’s truly a character-building RTA!
There are five types of misdeeds, and each boosts different stats. It’s a two-for-one deal—you can level up while accumulating Vice Points.

Also, at your hideout, you can recruit “minions”—tools for committing every conceivable evil—and snag handy items.

During recruitment, there’s a certain chance for an additional recruitment opportunity to trigger, and you can acquire even more minions by using them as bait (killing them). Kill minions in battle and at the hideout! …But some of you might be worried: “If I keep killing them, won’t I run out of minions?”
However, the truth is that the Evil God Revival Program “Demon’s Night Fever” is a cycle of reincarnation—the more minions you kill, the more they are reincarnated and strengthened.

So there’s no need to worry. Kill without hesitation and forge ahead on the path of evil!
Also, since this game is structured into chapters, the world changes completely from one chapter to the next—for example, in Chapter 1 you’ll fight Super Sentai heroes as a “Monster,” and in Chapter 2 you’ll battle magical girls as a “Witch Girl (!?)”. However, one thing remains the same in every chapter: the Evil God and Kyoshiro are both “Evil.”Let’s savor the thrill of a wide variety of evil deeds to the fullest!
Standing in the way of Kyoshiro is Maria Shakado, your middle school classmate who’s now a globally popular idol. Having become an apostle of “God” who continues to battle Gigasoides, she challenges you to battle—sometimes as a Super Sentai hero, and other times as a magical girl.

But Maria-chan is also Kyoshiro’s love interest…Maria-chan isn’t fighting him out of any hatred either; she’s convinced that “Kyoshiro-kun has been brainwashed by an evil god, so I have to save him! That’s the trial God has given me!”—
and so their paths continue to cross in misunderstanding. What fate awaits them at the end of this kill game…?

"Demon’s Knight Fever" is scheduled for release on October 22 for PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch. A playable demo will be available at the Sega/Atlus booth during TGS 2026.
