Jotoyo has announced that it will hold a limited-time playtest starting September 22 for “Monster Fantasy,” a hunting and life simulation game currently in development.
A Hunting Action × Slow-Life Sim Inspired by *Monster Hunter*
This title combines hunting action—where players take down giant monsters—with “slow life” elements such as fishing, logging, mining, cooking, and crafting equipment. Players can choose from four classes—Warrior, Mage, Archer, and Swordsman—to take on approximately 50 types of large monsters, while also enjoying interactions with about 100 villagers in the village.
However, when the trailer was released, some pointed out similarities in the movements of the monsters and characters to those in the “Monster Hunter” series—a landmark in the hunting action genre. The development team acknowledged that *Monster Hunter* is indeed one of their sources of inspiration—and that key members of the team are fans of the series—but emphasized that this title prioritizes a new gameplay experience distinct from *Monster Hunter*, born from the combination of different gameplay elements.
They also acknowledged that certain visual elements gave the impression of high similarity and stated that they would proceed with design adjustments and improvements.

According to this announcement, a limited-time playtest is scheduled to begin on September 22. Details regarding the test will be announced at a later date. Note that a previous FAQ stated the plan was to release a demo version in the spring of 2027 and complete development in the summer of 2027, following the September playtest.
