"Guns & Dragons," a co-op roguelike FPS, announces that AI-generated icons will be replaced with hand-drawn ones in the next playtest

ABUTTON has announced plans to replace the in-game icons with hand-drawn ones in the next playtest for the PC roguelike FPS *Guns & Dragons*.

The playtest, which will support Japanese, is scheduled to take place from September 17 to 23—featuring the addition of the Forest Elves and an expansion of the co-op player limit

Developed by the team behind titles such as *Counter-Strike Online* and *Blade & Soul 2*, this is a roguelike FPS supporting both solo and co-op play. Set in a world of magical engineering and fantasy, players venture into caves and dungeons to collect runes and artifacts.

The game features high-speed action where players fight while building character builds by combining runes, artifacts, and skills, with over 45 types of weapons, including revolvers and shotguns. Between expeditions, players can use materials obtained in battle to expand their base and develop equipment and technologies.

From Steam News.

The game is scheduled to hold its second playtest starting September 17, 2026 (local time). For this playtest, the developers have incorporated feedback from the previous session by replacing AI-generated artifact icons with hand-drawn ones created by artists and standardizing the colors of auras based on rarity. While some images are placeholders because they weren’t ready in time for the test, the developers state that none of them were generated by AI.

In addition, the developers announced that while they use AI for backend development tasks such as coding assistance, the art and in-game assets were created entirely by the team from start to finish.

Although the store page lists support for up to 3 players, this has been changed to “up to 4 players” for this playtest. Furthermore, “Eryn,” the elf of the Forest Folk featured in the announcement trailer, and her bow will also be playable.

*Guns & Dragons* is scheduled for release on PC (Steam/Epic Games Store). The playtest, which will support Japanese, is scheduled to take place on Steam from September 17 to 23, 2026 (local time).
