The “TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026” is being held at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21, 2026.

This event brings together a wide variety of games, ranging from highly anticipated new releases to noteworthy titles yet to be seen. In this article, we’ll introduce *Persona 4 Revival* from the Sega Atlas booth.

Following *Persona 3 Reload*, how has this hugely popular title from the *Persona* series—which is still beloved by many fans—been “revived”? Let’s take a look, including our hands-on experience at the event.

Everything—from the graphics to the voice acting—has been completely revamped! Enjoy *Persona 4* with the quality of a brand-new title

This time, we got to try out the Story Main Mode. While the basic storyline remains unchanged from the original, we experienced the story of *Persona 4 Revival*, where everything—from the graphics to the sound—has been completely revamped.

The first thing that catches your eye is, of course, the major graphical overhaul. The most significant changes are in the character proportions and background graphics, which now align with those of *Persona 5* and *Persona 3: Reload*.

Additionally, the in-battle UI and the camera perspective during exploration are similar to those in the two titles mentioned above, so the visual presentation feels very familiar to anyone who has played the current *Persona* series or watched the anime series.

Furthermore, there are major changes in the sound department as well. All of the background music (BGM) played during the game has been completely re-composed, and the iconic battle track “Reach Out To The Truth” has been revived!

With a completely new arrangement, it’s sure to thrill not only series fans but also those who “only know the song.” While playing, I couldn’t help but get so excited that I let out a loud “Woooooo!”

And to top it all off, the character voices have been completely re-recorded—a truly lavish touch. Since every scene is fully voiced, all players can immerse themselves even more deeply in the story.

The scenario I played this time was from the early part of the story—the episode where you face off against “Yosuke Hanamura’s” Shadow. Thanks to the evolution of the character designs and Shōtarō Morikubo’s passionate performance, there were several scenes that, despite following the same plot, were many times more intense than in the original.

The Best Choice for Players New to the “Persona” Series

As I’ve explained so far, nearly every aspect of this game—except for the story—is completely new.

It’s one of the most popular titles in the *Persona* series, and while many gamers have likely played it before, this hands-on experience made me feel that it’s well worth picking up and playing again, even for those who have.

More importantly, there’s no doubt that for those who’ve experienced the *Persona* series but haven’t played *Persona 4*, or for those who’ve never played the *Persona* series at all, this title is the best choice for getting to know the series.

That’s because *Persona 4* is the title that most vividly embodies the essence of “youth and mystery”—the very foundation that connects to the current *Persona* series.I found myself thinking that the number of people who discover the *Persona* series here and become fans will surely continue to grow… That’s what came to mind as I watched the excitement at the booth.

*Persona 4 Revival* is scheduled for release on February 18, 2027.
