The “Tokyo Game Show 2026” (hereinafter “TGS2026”) will be held at Makuhari Messe from Thursday, September 17, 2026, through Monday, September 21, 2026 (a national holiday).
Marking its 30th anniversary, this year’s event will be held over five days for the very first time in history!
At TGS2026, Happinet will have booths at the Main Hall (Hall 6), the Indie Game Corner (Hall 9), and the Family Game Park (TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall). At the Main Hall booth, visitors can try out more than 13 game titles, and there will also be photo spots and special campaigns.

In this article, we’ll introduce the currently available titles available for playtesting—“Beast of Reincarnation” and “Brigandine Abyss”—and share highlights from the booth.
*Beast of Reincarnation*: Team up with your canine companion to defeat the “Beast of Reincarnation,” the source of all corruption

Set in Japan in the year 4026—more than a thousand years after the world’s collapse—*Beast of Reincarnation* is an action RPG that follows the journey of the protagonist “Emma,” who has lost both her memories and emotions, and her canine companion “Kuu.”You’ll board the mobile base known as the “Purification Ship” and set out on a journey to eliminate the source of the corruption.
At the start of the game, large, vibrant flowers were in full bloom on the protagonist Emma, her partner Kuu, and the monstrous enemies known as “Corrosive Beings.”

This phenomenon, which feels both beautiful and eerie, appears to be an entity known as “Taint.” It is a terrifying force that transforms all living creatures into Corrosion Beings.
Emma, a “Tainted One” who grew up despised because she was infected by the Taint, carries the Taint within her; this is why she is able to fight the “Beast of Reincarnation,” the immortal lifeform that is the source of the Taint.

As a “Purification Soldier,” she sets out for the distant western lands to defeat the “Beast of Reincarnation,” the root cause of the Impurity.

The game’s battle system is unique: Emma builds up a gauge by attacking and parrying with her sword, then uses that gauge to issue command instructions to Kuu.
Kuu uses a wide variety of techniques, including area-of-effect attacks and moves that immobilize enemies. Assess the situation carefully and issue the appropriate commands.

Additionally, some of Kuu’s moves trigger QTEs; successfully completing them restores Emma’s HP and gauge. Mastering these QTEs will give you the upper hand in battle.

The bond between Emma and Kuu is also evident during field exploration. Emma can extend her hair like a vine, allowing her to reach high places with ease. Kuu will also alert you to items you might otherwise overlook, so you can explore with peace of mind.

The bond between Emma and Kuu is woven into combat, exploration, and the story itself. What kind of ending will this journey between one person and one creature ultimately bring?
Since its release, the game has undergone numerous updates and improvements, making it much more enjoyable to play. Furthermore, the developers have explicitly stated that they will continue to release updates based on player feedback.
A desolate world bursting with flowers, a canine companion, a protagonist who purifies “impurity”… If any of this appeals to you, I highly recommend giving this captivating game a try!
*Beast of Reincarnation* is now available for PC (Steam/Microsoft Store),PS5, andXBOX Series X|S. It is also available on Game Pass, and a physical edition of the PS5 version is available.
At the Happinet booth at TGS 2026, visitors can not only try out the game but also take photos with a life-size Ku at the photo spot.

Play the TGS 2026 Exclusive Build! “Brigandine Abyss”
Set on a continent divided among 25 factions, the turn-based strategy game *Brigandine Abyss* pits players against the evil “New Abysloa Empire,” which seeks to invade. It is now available for PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
While free demo versions are currently available on various platforms, at TGS 2026, you’ll actually be able to play an event-exclusive build!

In the TGS 2026 on-site-exclusive build, you can play as three leader units for your army: Largo from “Gran Dragunika” and Garnet from “Scarlet Will”—both of whom are also available in the demo—as well as Alicebell from “Purifano.”

Additionally, the map features a large number of unique monsters of various races, appearing on both the enemy and ally sides. With a wide variety of skills available, this is the perfect way to get a feel for the game’s atmosphere, each character’s traits, and the types of monsters that appear.

According to producer Masaru Saito, the game was originally designed to be much more difficult, but during playtesting, staff members repeatedly exclaimed, “We can’t beat this!!” so the difficulty was lowered slightly. It’s now set to a level where you can clear it in about 3 to 5 turns.
But don’t underestimate it. If you let your guard down, you’ll be defeated in an instant…! I nearly lost one of my monsters myself… Thank goodness there was a monster nearby that could cast healing magic…

This is a limited-edition build with special features not available in the standard version, offering a great experience for both those who’ve already played the game and those who haven’t. Additionally, at TGS 2026, there will be an event called “Faction Diagnosis” using AR monitors, so if you visit the venue, be sure to check it out along with the hands-on demo.

Although the game is already on the market, Producer Saito offered a reassuring comment: “We’ll continue to listen to user feedback and implement updates moving forward.”
As the latest entry in the series, released about six years after its predecessor, expectations are high for what’s to come.

At Happinet’s main booth, you can also try out many other titles, including the action-adventure game *Mononoke no Kuni*, set in the alternate world of “The Land of Roots” inhabited by mysterious mononoke, which is scheduled for release in 2027.

There were also photo spots and promotional events taking place, and cosplayer Shiramei-san (@nea0530ko) was in attendance! Although we weren’t able to meet her during our coverage, we’ve heard that you might also run into fellow cosplayer Tokiwa-san (@TKWcos) at the venue. If you’re visiting TGS 2026, be sure to stop by the Indie Games Corner as well!
