Perfect Random has officially released the roguelike FPS *SULFUR*. The console version was released on the same day that the PC version exited Steam Early Access.
The game has been in Early Access on Steam since October 2024 and has sold over 500,000 copies. This official release includes the completion of the enchantment system, enemy knockback mechanics, balance adjustments, and performance improvements.
A Dark World Depicted in Cartoon-Style Graphics
This game is an action-adventure title that blends FPS and roguelike elements, rendered in a unique cartoon-style art style.
You play as a priest whose church was burned down by a mysterious witch. Burdened with the strange fate of being resurrected at a grave every time you die, you venture into caves where monsters and cultists await. Explore dungeons that change their layout with every attempt, and utilize over 60 types of firearms and hundreds of items as you make your way toward the depths where the witch lies in wait.
You can combine a wide variety of enchantments and attachments with your weapons. Depending on your choices—such as cooking, collecting gear, or using melee weapons—a diverse range of strategies unfolds. Along the way, you’ll encounter mysterious beings, and your interactions and decisions with them will influence the course of your adventure.
Free updates are planned for the future
With the official release, a vast amount of content has been added, including over 60 types of firearms, hundreds of loot items, various regions, bosses, enemies, quests, recipes, and weapon modifications. Additionally, balance adjustments and performance optimizations have been implemented. You can view the full patch notes here.
Multiplayer is scheduled to be implemented in the future. Furthermore, the developers plan to continue rolling out free updates, including new firearms, additional content, and improvements. They also intend to explore the possibility of creating DLC.
"SULFUR" is currently available for PC (Steam), Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is scheduled for release on PS4/PS5 as well, but as of this writing, it has not yet been released.
