room6 has announced that the exploration-based action adventure game *The Journey of the Fox and the Frog: Kotoro-Oni of Adashi Island* is scheduled for release in 2027.
Searching for a Stolen Shrine on a Mysterious Island—Coming to PC and Consoles
This 3D action-adventure game follows a fox whose shrine has been stolen as it explores a strange island alongside a frog.Set on “Adashino Island”—a world shrouded in darkness and neon lights, inhabited by writhing mysterious black shadows, beings transformed into ogres, and monsters worshipped as gods—the game depicts a journey to find the stolen shrine.
The game features exploration segments where players uncover the island’s secrets while conversing with its inhabitants, as well as “tag” segments where players must evade pursuing ogres. At the “Tokyo Game Show 2026,” a demo version was showcased that allowed players to experience the exploration segments as part of the game’s flow.
During Nintendo’s indie game showcase “Indie World 2026.10.28,” which aired on October 28, 2026, it was announced that the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions are scheduled for release in spring 2027.Following the announcement, Rias, one of the developers, reported that the game had trended on X in Japan.
Additionally, regarding the PC version, which is also scheduled for release, the release date listed on the Steam store page was updated to 2027 on the same day as the announcement.
