During the “Indie World 2026.10.28” broadcast released by Nintendo on October 28, 2026, the Japanese release of the puzzle adventure game *Order of the Sinking Star* for Nintendo Switch 2 (hereinafter “Switch 2”) was announced, and the game became available for download immediately after the program ended.A PS5 version for the Japanese market has also been released.
A physical release is also planned for Europe and North America.
This title is a puzzle adventure game developed by Thekla, led by Jonathan Blow, known for *Braid* and *The Witness*.It features over 1,000 handcrafted puzzles, and players control a cast of unique heroes—including a queen, a thief, a warrior, a wizard, and a talking ship—to freely solve puzzles across four distinct worlds.
At the time of writing, the game has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, and a Metascore of 84 (PC version) on the review aggregation site Metacritic. It has also been nominated for the “PC Game of the Year” and “Best Indie Game” categories at the 2026 Golden Joystick Awards.
While the PC version was originally scheduled for release on October 8, 2026, both domestically and internationally, and the PS5 and Switch 2 versions were set for release overseas only, it has now been announced that the Switch 2 version will be released following the conclusion of “Indie World 2026.10.28.” Additionally, the PS5 version has since been released domestically.
Furthermore, an Accolade trailer was released recently, revealing that physical editions of the PS5 and Switch 2 versions are scheduled for release in Europe and North America in 2027.
The Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 versions of *Order of the Sinking Star* are now available in Japan.
