Discord has announced a new feature that allows messages within eligible public servers to be found via web search. Starting in November 2026, server profile pages will be updated, and beginning in mid-December, messages in select channels will also gradually become searchable.

Making game walkthroughs and other information discoverable via web search

This new feature applies to “Discoverable Servers” registered with Discord’s server discovery feature. It will make messages posted in select channels within these servers discoverable via web search engines.

As a result, users will be able to more easily find information—such as game character builds, how to obtain rare items, and Q&A exchanges within the community—via web search even before joining a Discord server. It will also be possible to access the relevant conversations directly from search results.

This new feature will be rolled out according to the following schedule:

  1. Automatic Publication of Server Web Pages (Starting November 16, 2026)
Starting November 16, “Discoverable Servers” with 1,000 or more members will have a dedicated web page showcasing the server. If an administrator has not created one in advance, the page will be published automatically and may display a “Channel Overview” summarizing the content discussed in public channels.

  2. Messages from Public Channels Will Be Indexed for Web Search (Rolling Out Starting Mid-December 2026)
In channels where the administrator has enabled public access, members’ posts will appear in search results and on the server’s web page. Usernames and avatars will not be displayed. Additionally, messages sent before mid-December 2026 will not be included.

Eligible “Discoverable Servers” are those with at least 1,000 members, that have been active for at least 8 weeks, and that meet specified activity and safety requirements. Administrators can select which channels to make public on the web and can also exclude all channels from being made public.

Users can also prevent their messages from appearing on the web by adjusting the settings under “Data and Privacy” in “User Settings.” This setting applies to all eligible servers they are a member of. Please note that in Japan, public visibility is enabled by default, so users must manually turn it off if they do not wish their messages to be displayed.

Please note that even if you disable this setting later, messages that were previously made public on the web will not be automatically deleted. If you wish to remove a message from public view, you must delete it directly within Discord.

In contrast, in the EU, the UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea, the default setting is turned off due to legal restrictions. Additionally, messages from users classified as teenagers are not made public, and they cannot enable this feature until they reach adulthood. Please note that private servers, direct messages (DMs), and group DMs are not affected by this change.
