On October 26, Shochiku Games announced that the official Version 1.0 of the crafting adventure game *REKA*, developed by Emberstorm Entertainment, had been released for PC (Steam).

Overcoming Delays, Version 1.0—Now with Japanese Support—Is Finally Released

In this game, players take on the role of Reka, a disciple of the legendary witch “Baba Yaga,” and embark on a witch-themed crafting adventure through an autumn forest alongside a “walking magical house” reminiscent of *Howl’s Moving Castle*.

Players wield the power of nature and earth spirits, learning magic as they explore a procedurally generated world.Along the way, you can enjoy a life befitting a witch by gathering materials and interacting with wildlife, and the game also features crafting elements that let you build and decorate your very own hideaway using the items you collect. The choices you make—whether to “help or ignore” the villagers’ quests—will shape your path as a witch.

The game launched in Early Access for PC (Steam) on September 12, 2024. While the official release was originally scheduled for August 18, 2026, it had been postponed to address bugs and performance issues and to further refine the game. Now, the official Version 1.0 has been released.

Contents of the 1.0 Update

The Final Chapter of Leka and Baba Yaga’s Story

Inspired by Slavic folklore, this game tells the story of Reka, an apprentice witch who has become a disciple of the legendary witch Baba Yaga. In previous updates, her journey through the forest has continued through new trials and quests. And now, the story finally comes to a close. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the ending!

New Side Quests and Mysterious Discoveries

We’ve added even more side quests, shrines, and collectibles to maps across the world! For all you exploration enthusiasts, we’ve increased the number of POIs (Points of Interest) to make the world feel even more vibrant.

Major Update to Home Building

House building is one of the most soothing aspects of this game—a joy you can lose yourself in for hours on end. If you find that building and decorating a witch-style chicken coop is the ultimate way to unwind, you’re sure to love the new features and items we’ve added this time.In addition to new types of wood (and clay!) and items, we’ve introduced a variety of new features, including the ability to place or delete multiple building blocks at once by dragging, a compass to show rotation direction, a smarter snap function, and improvements to roof construction.

We’ve further refined the surrounding environment

We’ve put a lot of effort into the surrounding environment so you can fully immerse yourself in REKA’s serene—and at times slightly eerie—landscapes. In addition to refining the wind system, moths now gather around lights at night, footprints and water splashes remain visible, your breath turns white in cold areas, and your clothes get wet when it rains. We’ve packed in plenty of the charm of autumn—a season we love so much!

Steam Achievements

You can now collect Steam achievements! From “The Sage of the Stove” to “The Witch’s Castle,” there are 21 achievements to unlock. Unlocking achievements lets you decorate your house with special commemorative plaques. Be sure to aim for a full completion!

Auto-Save Support!

We’ve also introduced a feature that automatically saves in the background during normal gameplay, after completing key quest moments, and after building a cabin. You can adjust the frequency to find the setting that works best for you.

Performance Improvements

Throughout the Early Access period, optimization has been a key focus for us. Ahead of the 1.0 release, we’ve also worked to improve performance around large houses and villages with many light sources.
