"Hirugao," a retro-style mystery novel inspired by "The Night of the Kamaitachi," is now available on Steam—follow a series of murders from three different perspectives

South Korea-based TEAM RESERVOIR DOGAMES began distributing the mystery-psychological thriller visual novel *Hirugao* for PC (Steam) today, October 27.

South Korea, 2000: A wife begins to suspect her husband.

Set in South Korea in the year 2000, this mystery visual novel follows the investigation of a series of murders.

After a man’s body is discovered in a motel, a wife begins to suspect her husband. Amidst this, players will unravel the case by switching between the perspectives of various characters, including “Woman,” “Man,” and “Detective.”

According to the developer, Amagure, the game was influenced by the classic sound novel *Kamikaze Night*, and its visuals—featuring silhouette characters set against live-action-style backgrounds—are striking. He reportedly created this title out of a desire to “see those screens from back then once again.”

While there is only one main ending, there are multiple “bad endings” that can be triggered by selecting the wrong choices. Additionally, new scenes are unlocked during a second playthrough, making the game designed with replayability in mind.

*Hirugao* is currently available for PC (Steam) and supports Japanese. A sale offering the game at a 10% discount—567 yen—runs through November 10, and a demo version is also available.
