Valve has released "3.9.5," the latest stable version of "SteamOS," the operating system used in its portable gaming PC, the "Steam Deck," and other devices.

Power consumption improvements for the “Steam Deck” in idle mode—Update 4.0 is just around the corner

“SteamOS” is an operating system developed by Valve based on the open-source “Linux” platform and comes pre-installed on the “Steam Deck.” It is also used in subsequent models such as the “Steam Machine” and “Steam Frame,” and support for various third-party devices has been added through updates.

In this update, the desktop environment has been upgraded from “KDE Plasma 6.4.3” to “Plasma 6.7.3,” and idle power consumption when no audio is playing on the Steam Deck has been improved. Various bug fixes have also been implemented, including those related to “Steam Machine” performance.

Furthermore, the patch notes mention that, as part of security and stability updates, the compromised CA certificates from eMudhra have been revoked.Regarding this issue, it was recently reported that the private keys for eight intermediate certificates issued by the Indian digital certificate authority eMudhra had been compromised, temporarily creating a situation where “malicious actors could easily impersonate secure sites.”

Since then, various browsers—including Firefox—have taken measures to block the company’s digital certificates, and it appears SteamOS has followed suit.

In response to this incident, eMudhra announced on October 22, 2026 (local time) that it would withdraw from the global SSL/TLS certificate business.
