GamesIndustry.biz, an international gaming industry business news outlet, has reported on pre-order figures for *Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6)* ahead of its release.
Approximately 6.45 million copies have already been pre-ordered
According to GamesIndustry.biz, an analysis by market research firm Sensor Tower revealed that pre-order numbers for *GTA 6* are significantly higher than those of other AAA titles released over the past six years.
Taking *Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2* (2022)—which had an exceptionally strong launch—as an example, a comparison of pre-order numbers 45 days prior to release shows that *GTA 6* has surpassed *CoD: MW2* by approximately 148%.

According to Sensor Tower’s public “GTA 6” sales tracker page, as of September 30, pre-orders for “GTA 6” stood at approximately 4.17 million units on PlayStation platforms and approximately 1.48 million units on Xbox platforms, for a total of approximately 5.65 million units. As of October 18, these figures had risen to approximately 4.8 million copies on PlayStation consoles and approximately 1.66 million copies on Xbox consoles, confirming that pre-orders had increased by a total of about 800,000 copies in roughly half a month (for a total of approximately 6.46 million copies).
Note that, according to GamesIndustry.biz, Sensor Tower’s comparative data appears to cover only digital pre-orders in the United States.

As the release date approaches, more players will likely start thinking, “Maybe I should go ahead and buy it now,” and there’s no doubt that pre-order numbers will gain even more momentum in the 24 days remaining until launch.
"Grand Theft Auto VI" is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and XBOX Series X|S.
