There have been numerous reports on social media and elsewhere of PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts being hijacked, with unauthorized children’s accounts being added.

Reports of unknown child accounts being added and IDs being changed are pouring in from both Japan and overseas

As of the time of writing (6:00 PM on October 26, 2026), multiple reports can be found on X stating that unknown child accounts were added to PSN accounts without the owners’ knowledge. While the veracity of these reports remains unclear as Sony Interactive Entertainment has not issued an official statement, some accounts indicate that the accounts were added by bypassing two-factor authentication. Additionally, a search of past posts suggests that similar incidents were reported around the beginning of October.

Reports of incidents have also been confirmed outside of Japan. One overseas user posted that upon waking up, they found multiple unauthorized child accounts added to their PSN account and had received an email notifying them of a sign-in ID change they did not authorize.Furthermore, while it is unclear whether the method used was the same as in this incident, HazzadorGamin, who posts game news for an international audience, also reported a PSN account takeover on October 9.

Since the majority of reports on X involve “unknown child accounts being added” or “receiving emails about email address or ID changes that the user didn’t initiate,” it might be a good idea for anyone with a PSN account to check their Family Management screen and email inbox just to be safe.

Please note that according to the official website, “You cannot remove a family member (child) from a family group.” If you suspect you may have been affected, please contact PlayStation Support or a similar service.
