"Cyberpunk 2077," developed by CD PROJEKT RED, has climbed to the top of the Steam sales charts.
"Cyberpunk 2077" Surges to the Top of Steam’s Sales Charts
According to the top sales rankings available on Steam, *Cyberpunk 2077* climbed 20 spots from the previous week to rank 5th globally (3rd when excluding free-to-play titles). Additionally, the DLC “Temporary Freedom” ranked 9th.

This surge is also evident in Japan, where the game climbed 32 spots from the previous week to 6th place (4th when excluding free-to-play titles).Furthermore, the number of concurrent players reached 124,145 around midnight on October 24, marking the highest figure in the three years since late September 2023—immediately following the release of the “Temporary Freedom” DLC—through October and beyond.
Was this driven by the release of the new anime and updates?
On October 20, the anime “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2,” co-produced with TRIGGER, premiered on Netflix. An update for the main game—featuring dual pistols and new side quests from the “Edgerunners 2” collaboration—was also released on October 22.
These figures may indicate that users who watched the anime are purchasing the game for the first time, or that players are returning to experience the new content in this update.
Additionally, “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” continues the tradition of faithfully recreating the game’s locations, just like its predecessor. There are likely quite a few players who are engaging in what’s known as “pilgrimage to sacred sites”—visiting the actual locations that served as settings for the anime and other media—within the game itself.

The Steam version of *Cyberpunk 2077* is currently available at a 70% discount—2,633 yen—for a limited time through October 27. The 10-episode anime series *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2* is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
