Cygames has announced that the emergency maintenance currently underway for the RPG *Bahamut: Godstrike* will be prolonged. While the maintenance is intended to address a PHP vulnerability, the company states that it is expected to last more than one week.
PHP Vulnerability Issue
Regarding the discovered PHP vulnerabilities, various websites were forced to take corrective action from the evening of October 21 through around noon on October 22, and Game*Spark was also compelled to conduct emergency maintenance.
In this context, it has proven difficult to address issues with long-running games, and some titles have already announced the end of their services.
“Bahamut: Godstrike” Faces Prolonged Maintenance
Cygames has announced that emergency maintenance for popular titles such as “Uma Musume: Pretty Derby,” “Granblue Fantasy,” “Princess Connect! Re:Dive,” and “Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond” had already concluded as of the time of this writing (around 10:30 p.m. on October 22).
However, regarding *Bahamut: Godstrike*, the company apologized for the prolonged emergency maintenance and announced that it is expected to continue for an extended period. Like the two titles mentioned above, this game has been in service since 2011; the company revealed that it is currently working on updating the game from the old version—which has been in use for many years—to a new version.
That said, a major version update spanning multiple generations appears to be a daunting task; the developers explained that it requires extensive program revisions and thorough testing of the game’s overall functionality. The maintenance period is expected to exceed one week.
Further updates on progress and the estimated end date will be provided at a later time.
"Bahamut: Godstrike" is currently available as a free-to-play game on Windows/Mac (AndApp) and mobile platforms (Google Play, mobage).
