――Regarding avatar animations, is it possible to individually inherit movement animations and combo animations from different characters?
Hirano: At launch, you’ll select motion sets on a per-character basis.
――Will there be animations available for all characters appearing as “Souls”?
Hirano: Basically, the animations will be for playable characters. Since animations for non-combatant characters like Bulma cannot be obtained, the number of options will correspond to the number of playable characters.
――In terms of the game’s story, what is the balance of elements from the original series?
Hirano: There’s still a lot I can’t discuss yet, but we’ve packed in not only the battle to protect the future world but also the charm of *Dragon Ball* that players are familiar with, along with the exploits of various characters. Please look forward to future announcements.
Exchanges with Akira Toriyama and the World of AGE 1000
――When establishing the AGE 1000 time period and world-building, what kind of collaboration did you have with Mr. Akira Toriyama?
Hirano: We’ve received many ideas and his supervision not only on the designs of new characters but also regarding the world-building and detailed settings.During the development of *Dragon Ball Z: KAKAROT*, we asked Mr. Toriyama about questions that arose while depicting the world as an RPG, and that led to the creation of the character Bonnyu, a former member of the Ginyu Special Forces. This time as well, we’re building the game while drawing on his wisdom even for the deepest aspects of the world’s setting.
Community-Focused Management Policy and Future Outlook
――Are there any plans to hold esports tournaments or official competitions for this title?
Hirano: We view *Xenoverse 3* as a game of “self-expression,” where each player pursues their own fighting style and strives to be the strongest.
Therefore, if we do hold events, we’re thinking of focusing on community events—such as meetups—rather than strictly competitive tournaments. In the previous title, we held a “Super Fashion Contest” where players competed over their avatars’ appearances, and we’d like to build excitement with our players by celebrating these diverse ways of enjoying the game.

――Could you tell us about your plans for post-launch DLC and long-term updates?
Hirano: As long as our fans and users continue to show interest, we intend to provide ongoing updates and various events to keep the service running for the long term. We plan to nurture the game while placing great importance on dialogue with our users.
Set in the uncharted era of AGE 1000, *Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3* builds on the series’ traditional mentor-apprentice system while significantly expanding cooperative play, building, and hack-and-slash-style character development. With many elements yet to be revealed, we’ll be keeping a close eye on future updates.
――Thank you very much!
Finally, here is a message for the fans from Producer Hirano.
Today, we’ve revealed detailed information regarding combat customization and PvE missions in *DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3*.
I’d like to take this opportunity to share a message.
Over the past few months, we’ve been releasing new information one after another,
and each time, we’ve received valuable feedback.
We are truly grateful for this,
and based on that feedback and survey results, we were able to discuss and implement changes quickly, announcing our plans for certain features.
We view the “Xenoverse” series—both at launch and beyond—
a collaborative effort between us and our players.
To ensure that what we aim to achieve with this title, “Xenoverse 3,”
in both the launch and the post-launch content, we have set the release date for the second half of 2027.
It may be a little while before we share the next update, but
but we intend to do our very best to make 2027 a great year for Dragon Ball game fans.
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3" is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
