Embark Studios, a game development studio under Nexon, announced the launch of Season 12, “PRIME TIME,” for its team shooter *THE FINALS*.

An automatic commentary feature that includes player names has been added. Speculation is running high about just what kinds of player names will be featured in the commentary.

A major addition in this update is the “Dynamic Commentary” feature, which automatically generates commentary.

This feature will be introduced on a trial basis for select content, with the in-game commentator “Scotty” providing commentary that includes calling out the names of players who pull off game-changing streaks of kills or perform revives. This feature is designed to give players the feeling that they’ve become superstars.

The comments section of the explanatory video for this system featured opinions such as, “It looks technically impressive—I’m looking forward to its implementation,” “I wonder what happens if I set a name that’s right on the edge of compliance—just enough to avoid getting banned,” and “It would be funny to set my name to ‘5 Million Bees.’”

In addition, the main highlights of this update are as follows.

  • Implementation
of the First Solo Mode: “Solo Showdown” Unlike previous modes where players compete in teams, “Solo Showdown” is a tournament-style game mode where victory or defeat depends solely on the individual player’s skill.

  • New Playstyles Added
to the Lightbuild Class We’ve added a new specialized skill, “True Sight,” and two new gadgets—“Mimic Device” and “Translocator”—to the Lightbuild class.

  • Dynamism 2.0
: With the “Dynamism 2.0” update, progressive destruction layers have been added to buildings. Rather than structures collapsing all at once, debris remains connected as the structure sways and twists, and floors tilt, creating constantly evolving new spaces.

  • Arena
Remasters: We have remastered three arenas: Monaco, Seoul, and Skyway Stadium. Each map is now themed with specific sponsor colors and visuals, and features new landmarks, objects, and modes of transportation.

  • Sponsors 3.0
: You can now raise your World Tour rank by completing new sponsor missions, and the rewards earned from quests given by your contracted sponsors have also been updated.

For more details, please check the release notes on the official website.

"THE FINALS" is now available as a free-to-play game on PC (Steam/Microsoft Store), PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and cloud streaming (GeForce Now).
