On October 21, CRITICAL REFLEX released the psychological horror game *Cucina Stellata*, developed by Filthy Eden, for free on PC (Steam).

Cook and savor. The madness that lies beyond traditional cuisine

Set in the countryside of the Romagna region of 19th-century Italy, this first-person, Lovecraftian psychological horror short story follows a lonely writer and gourmet as he becomes captivated by unknown flavors.

Featuring cooking-sim elements, players take on the challenge of preparing traditional Italian dishes in the kitchen—chopping meat and vegetables, rolling out pasta dough, and more. The finished dishes are then carried to the dining table for the protagonist to taste.

However, during cooking, otherworldly ingredients not found in the original recipes begin to appear, gradually leading to an unsettling turn of events. Possessed by these unknown flavors, the protagonist is driven by a hunger that deepens with every bite and is eventually consumed by madness.

Originally released for free on itch.io, an improved Steam version was announced in September 2025. In April 2026, CRITICAL REFLEX—known for titles such as *Mouthwashing* and *No, I’m not a Human*—became the publisher, and the game was released as a surprise on October 21.

As of this writing, the game has garnered a total of 63 Steam reviews and achieved “Very Positive” status with a 98% approval rating.

Game*Spark also published a hands-on report from when the game was showcased at “BitSummit PUNCH” in May 2026, so be sure to check that out as well.

*Cucina Stellata* is currently available for free on PC (Steam). It also supports Japanese.
