・HardZone: 100/100 (PS5)

*Final Fantasy Resonance* brings together all the elements I love about this series into one wonderful adventure. The captivating story, challenging turn-based battles, and flexible Vision System blend together beautifully, further enhanced by stunning HD-2D art and a fantastic soundtrack. This game reminded me why I fell in love with *Final Fantasy* in the first place—and gave me new reasons to love it.

・Wccftech: 95/100 (PC)

*Final Fantasy Resonance* marks a magnificent return to the series’ turn-based roots.By blending classic storytelling and compelling characters with a solid combat system, a deep character customization system, and the best HD-2D visuals to date, this title delivers a captivating RPG experience that honors the series’ legacy. It’s safe to say it’s more than worthy of being a fresh start for the entire franchise.

・Gaming Boulevard: 95/100 (Nintendo Switch 2)

I started playing *Final Fantasy Resonance* expecting a modern take on the *Final Fantasy* games I grew up with. But before I knew it, I’d stopped comparing it to past entries and simply wanted to see where *Resonance* itself would take me.Aiming for 100% completion ended up being more repetitive than I’d hoped, but that hardly diminished how much I enjoyed the rest of my time with this game. I said at the start that this might become my favorite turn-based *Final Fantasy*. Now that I’ve finished it, I truly believe that’s the case.

・Game Informer: 90/100 (Nintendo Switch 2)

While this game has one foot firmly planted in the rich history of *Final Fantasy*, its lush graphics and compelling characters ensure that it isn’t merely a rehash of that history—it’s building something new upon it.

・Everyeye.it: 88/100 (PS5)

Square Enix has blazed a new trail for *Final Fantasy*—I hope this marks the beginning of a revival. Given the series’ illustrious history and the weight of its name, this is not only possible but highly desirable.By effortlessly embracing the stylistic hallmarks of the past and breathing new life into them, *Resonance* has satisfied many fans who were disappointed—and, in a sense, felt betrayed—by the direction taken by the numbered titles following *Final Fantasy X*.With this magnificent work, the saga has proven that it can nurture two distinct identities simultaneously. One is defined by constant experimentation—departing from its original genre to reach new audiences—while the other consciously and proudly celebrates the brand’s origins alongside the fans who led this Japanese company’s flagship franchise to global success.

・Gamers Heroes: 85/100 (PS5)

Featuring turn-based battles, HD-2D visuals, and a host of nostalgic characters, *Final Fantasy Resonance* is the perfect nostalgic treat for old-school *Final Fantasy* fans.

・Checkpoint Gaming: 80/100 (PC)

While *Final Fantasy Resonance* has a few flaws, it’s still the perfect journey that every *Final Fantasy* fan should experience. It’s packed with wonderful music and features a robust turn-based combat system where preparation pays off thanks to a customization system that allows for a wide variety of builds. While the story may stumble toward the end, what really holds this game together are the incredibly charming and memorable characters depicted within its rich, nostalgic pixel-art aesthetic.

・GameSpot: 70/100 (Nintendo Switch 2)

However, despite Resonance’s flaws, in every other respect the game delivered exactly what I was hoping for—a way for everyone to experience the story, characters, and world of Brave Exvius once again.I can only hope this marks the first step toward Square Enix reviving some of its discontinued mobile games in a form that will remain playable in the future—especially since there’s still so much of the *Brave Exvius* story left to tell beyond the events of this title. Whether as a remake or a standalone title, *Final Fantasy Resonance* shines brighter than it stumbles.

・VGC: 60/100 (PS5)

*Final Fantasy Resonance* is a fun JRPG, and it was released at exactly the right time for me—I was personally in need of a classic turn-based experience. However, in a world where HD-2D remakes of classic Square Enix games and pixel remasters of the first six *Final Fantasy* titles already exist, *Resonance* isn’t exactly a must-play.*Final Fantasy Resonance* doesn’t need to do anything new to be a good game, but if it had offered something fresh, it might have been a masterpiece.
