On October 20, 2026, Kalypso Media Japan announced that the Japanese version of the dictatorship simulation game *Tropico 7* will be released on January 28, 2027—the same day as the global version. Pre-orders for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 physical editions are now open.
First simultaneous release across all platforms in the series; available on Game Pass from day one
The *Tropico* series challenges players to take on the role of “El Presidente,” the leader of a small island nation in the Caribbean, and manage the country. Set across four eras—from the colonial era through World War II, the Cold War, and into the modern era—players aim to develop the island and maintain their regime.

Another key feature of this release is the series’ first-ever simultaneous launch across all platforms. The Nintendo Switch 2 version supports mouse control via Joy-Con 2, allowing for more intuitive island construction and management, as well as voice chat via Game Chat and screen sharing.
All pre-order customers will receive the “World Conquest Outfit” DLC, a new costume for El Presidente. Additionally, the PS5 physical “Deluxe Edition” includes early access to the main game starting 48 hours before the release date.

The content included in both the PS5 “Deluxe Edition” and the Nintendo Switch 2 “Special Edition,” in addition to the main game, is as follows:
“Revolutionary” Outfit
Palace Skin: “Bunker”
Palace Rooftop Decorations: “Radar Tower / Satellite System / Anti-Aircraft Gun”
Palace Garden Decorations: “Anti-Aircraft Gun / Bunker / Ammunition Depot / Crocodile Pond”
Original Art Book: “Behind the Scenes of Tropico 7”
Original Soundtrack
The art book and soundtrack are available as external downloads; the soundtrack is not included in the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

A playable demo with Japanese language support is now available on Steam and the Microsoft Store. You can test your skills as a ruler starting with the first campaign mission, “Little Great Britain.”
