XLGAMES began distributing a demo version of the open-world action MMORPG *ArcheAge Chronicles* for PC (Steam) today, October 20.
Planned as a one-time purchase with no “pay-to-win” elements
Set in “Auroria,” 50 years after the events of the original *ArcheAge*, this latest entry in the series is an open-world action MMORPG where players can enjoy combat, exploration, and a variety of lifestyle-based content.
As the successor to the original *ArcheAge*—which ended its service in Japan in December 2024—the game was originally developed under the name *ArcheAge 2* but was renamed to its current title in September 2024. Although it was initially scheduled for release in 2025, it has since been delayed.
This latest installment places a strong emphasis on action combat. Players utilize melee weapons, ranged attacks, and magic, while judging when to dodge, parry, or strike based on enemy movements. Players can also team up with others to take on powerful foes.
Beyond combat, the game features a rich array of activities such as farming, housing, and crafting. When trading, dangerous enemies may lie in wait along your route—but even in such situations, you can team up with allies to fight them off.
The game will be sold as a one-time purchase, and the developer has stated its policy of not selling any “pay-to-win” items. There are no plans to include an in-game store at the start of Early Access; even if one is introduced in the future, the timing and specific offerings will be announced in advance.
Based on the network test conducted in September, this demo version adds the new dungeon “Throne of Hinnon” and introduces PvP for the first time. Four playable classes are available: Warrior, Ranger, Berserker, and Mage.
No prior registration or invitation is required; anyone with a Steam account can participate. According to the official X account, Japan is included in the event. Although the game does not support Japanese, the event is scheduled to run from 2:00 AM on October 20 to 2:00 AM on October 27, Japan Standard Time.
*ArcheAge Chronicles* is scheduled to enter Early Access on PC (Steam) sometime in 2026. It is also scheduled for release on PC (Epic Games Store), PS5, and XBOX Series X|S.
