On October 19, 2026, Square Enix released an update for *Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions*, which is available on iOS and Android.
"War of the Lions" offers a different kind of appeal from "Ivalice Chronicles"
*Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lion* is a remake of *Final Fantasy Tactics* that was originally released for the PSP in 2007. It was ported to iOS in 2011 and to Android in 2013, and is still available today.
This update includes the following changes:
Support for game controllers
Added double-speed functionality
Battle UI improvements
Support for 60 fps
Bug fixes
While the original remastered version, *Final Fantasy Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles*, is available for current-generation PCs and consoles, *The War of the Lion* offers its own unique appeal.
For example, it features additional elements such as jobs like the “Onion Knight” and “Dark Knight,” as well as party members like “Balflear” from *FF12* and “Russo” from *FFTA2*—making it a version with a distinct flavor compared to *Ivalice Chronicles*, which did not include these additions.
In an interview with the developers of *Ivalice Chronicles* for the international market, they were asked why elements from *War of the Lion* weren’t included.
Although they reportedly considered adding these elements to the remastered version, they seem to have focused on delivering an experience closer to the original, making the additional content in *The War of the Lion* truly one-of-a-kind.
