・HardZone: 83/100 (PS5)

The action RPG, which boasts a loyal following, has returned as *Tales of Eternia Remastered* with completely revamped visuals, sound, and gameplay.Bandai Namco Entertainment has delivered a solid remaster that pays homage to the original. With a wealth of options, players can tailor the gameplay experience to their preferences. Highly recommended for both longtime fans—dating back to the original PlayStation and PSP versions—and new players alike, this title has lost none of the magic unique to the *Tales of* series.

・Console Creatures: 80/100 (PS5)

*Tales of Eternia Remastered* is the fourth title in the *Tales of* series to be reborn for a modern audience, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s received by a new generation of players. While it retains some of the rough edges typical of JRPGs from the original PlayStation era, the characters, world-building, and story more than make up for the simple combat system and modest difficulty. Setting aside the somewhat dated gameplay, I really enjoyed the story, and I’m thrilled to see the earliest entries in the series making their way to current-generation consoles.

・GamersRD: 79/100 (PS5)

*Tales of Eternia Remastered* is a faithful, enhanced version of the original.Although minor adjustments have been made to the gameplay, the classic experience remains intact, and you can even play it exactly as it was back in the day. While this title refrains from incorporating modern mechanics or a complete overhaul, it has withstood the passage of time with surprising resilience and has not lost its luster.

・CGMagazine: 75/100 (PS5)

*Tales of Eternia Remastered* has revived a 2D masterpiece from the *Tales of* series. It restores content exclusive to the Japanese version that had previously been cut from the North American release and adds carefully selected quality-of-life improvements tailored for modern players, resulting in a complete package.

・Video Chums: 75/100 (PS5)

*Tales of Eternia Remastered* is a fun action RPG, but because it’s firmly rooted in the early 2000s, it does come with some of the issues typical of that era. That said, thanks to its story, characters, and generally satisfying combat system, it’s a game well worth picking up.This is especially true for fans of the *Tales of* series.

・GAMES.CH: 70/100 (PS5)

*Tales of Eternia* has returned as a charming, old-school JRPG. It features an engaging story, quirky characters, and a fast-paced—though undeniably dated—combat system. While quality-of-life improvements have made it more accessible, the outdated mechanics and lack of substantial new content mean this re-release doesn’t feel truly fresh.

・PSX Brasil: 70/100 (PS5)

*Tales of Eternia Remastered* attempts to rekindle the excitement experienced on the original PlayStation. However, on next-gen consoles, the game lacks charm and fails to recapture the brilliance it likely once possessed.

PC (Steam) /PS5/PS4/Xbox Series X|S/Nintendo Switch 2/Nintendo Switch, released on October 15, 2026 (October 16 for the Steam version). As of this writing, the PS5 version had a Metascore of 76 (based on 16 reviews); the PC, PS4, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch versions did not meet the minimum number of reviews required for a Metascore.

Overall, the story, characters, and quality-of-life improvements have been highly praised. On the other hand, there appear to be some critical opinions regarding the combat and the game’s sense of novelty.
