Early access to the campaign for pre-order customers of *Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4* began on October 17 and has received high ratings on Steam.
The campaign has also been well-received by international media.
"CoD: MW4," scheduled for release on October 23, offers early access to the campaign starting October 17 as a pre-order bonus. As of this writing, it has garnered approximately 3,000 user reviews on Steam, with a 91% "Very Positive" rating.
Users have commented: “I don’t want to overpraise it, but this campaign was good. I can definitely say it’s the best in the last few years,” and “I’m a ‘CoD’ fan, but I had no intention of buying another one after the ‘MW2’ reboot.I bought *CoD: MW4* thinking it was my last chance, but the campaign team seriously deserves a raise. While various review sites and major media outlets have noted that these are strictly evaluations based on early access to the campaign, GameSpot gave it a 7/10, Insider Gaming a 9/10, and GamesBeat a 4.5/5—all of which are relatively high scores.
While these are strictly based on early access to the campaign, a check on the unofficial database site SteamDB shows that this title has a favorability rating second only to the original *Black Ops*, released in 2010.
Ranked above it are classics such as the 2007 release *CoD 4: Modern Warfare*, *Call of Duty 2*, and the 2009 release *Modern Warfare 2*, demonstrating that the latest installment has achieved a favorability rating not seen in over a decade.
*Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4* is scheduled for release on October 23 for PC (Steam, Battle.net, Microsoft Store), PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Those who pre-order or pre-purchase the Standard Digital Edition or Collector’s Edition will be able to play the campaign early starting October 17.
