・Screen Hype: 100/100 (PC)
For a debut game, developer Wych Elm has pulled off a home run. I highly recommend this title to fans of horror, Metroidvania, and detective stories alike. I also encourage those unfamiliar with these genres to give it a try—it’s packed with a beautiful, cinematic experience and features a story you’ll want to unravel for yourself.
・CGMagazine: 100/100 (PS5)
*Silver Pines* is a masterpiece. It has it all: stunning animation, a gripping mystery, and gameplay that makes you eager to explore the map and spend as much time as possible in the town of Silver Pines.

・Radio Times: 100/100 (Nintendo Switch 2)
・DualShockers: 95/100 (PC)
*Silver Pines* is an intelligent and sublime love letter to David Lynch and all the narrative styles that have come to define him—from the cult classic *Twin Peaks* to *Blue Velvet* and *Lost Highway*.Furthermore, it delves deeply into *Silent Hill*—which could be considered the spiritual successor to Lynch’s work—incorporating everything from fog-shrouded townscapes to nightmares lurking with bared fangs. While embracing all of these inspirations with the utmost dignity and respect, the game ultimately tells its own story. The combat may take a little time to get used to, but the Walker has a wealth of options at his disposal, and you’ll start to feel a sense of satisfaction after a while. On the other hand, while the investigation elements—which form the core of this game—are well-crafted, they might be a bit unforgiving for players who get distracted.
・Ragequit.gr: 93/100 (PC)
・GamesRadar+: 90/100 (PC)
Captivating, atmospheric, and superbly crafted, *Silver Pines* is an immersive mystery experience that’s hard to put down—and even harder to let go of. A detective, an action hero, and a man on the verge of uncovering a terrifying darkness—it lets you experience all of these at once.

・KonsoliFIN: 90/100 (Nintendo Switch 2)
With its dark visual style, Lynchian atmosphere, clever puzzles, and a map that gradually opens up and rewards exploration, *Silver Pines* is one of this fall’s biggest surprises. Despite the significant differences in the development team’s size and budget, I enjoyed it even more than *SILENT HILL: Townfall* in many ways.At this price point, Wych Elm’s debut title is a thriller I can highly recommend to fans of the genre—and it certainly doesn’t lack atmosphere.
・Gamer Social Club: 90/100 (Xbox Series X|S)
・Hobby Consolas: 84/100 (PC)
*Silver Pines* proudly embraces its influences. While it’s by no means original, the legacy of *Silent Hill*, *Resident Evil*, and the early masterpieces of survival horror has resulted in a visually appealing, consistently playable, and narratively compelling experience.
・Insider Gaming: 80/100 (PC)
・Checkpoint Gaming: 70/100 (PC)
*Silver Pines* draws heavily on contemporary works for inspiration, but unlike other “love letters” dedicated to classic games and TV shows, it finds a way to make them its own.Although the combination of horror and Metroidvania genres didn’t quite convince me, the captivating setting, thought-provoking ending, and stunning art direction kept me glued to my seat from start to finish.
We’ve compiled the international Metacritic reviews for *Silver Pines*, which was released on October 8, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. As of this writing, the Metacritic scores are as follows: 85 for the PC version (23 reviews), 86 for the PS5 version (15 reviews), 85 for the Xbox Series X|S version (5 reviews), and 88 for the Nintendo Switch 2 version (7 reviews)(The Nintendo Switch version does not meet the minimum number of reviews required for a Metacritic score and is therefore unrated).
Overall, the game has been highly praised for its unsettling atmosphere reminiscent of David Lynch’s works and *Silent Hill*, its compelling mystery-driven story, its hand-drawn art and animation, and its map that expands the areas you can explore the more you delve into it.On the other hand, there also seem to be some critical opinions regarding the clunky combat and the combination of horror and Metroidvania elements.
*Silver Pines* is currently available on PC (Steam/Epic Games Store), PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch.
