F&C announced via its official staff X account that it will release a free demo for the Steam version of the horror adventure game *Dead of the Brain: The Scream of the Dead*, originally released in 1992 under the company’s “Fairy Tail” game brand, starting October 20.
A town overrun by zombies thanks to a resurrection potion! This intense splatter game is brought back to life in the modern era

This title is the first installment of the “PC-98 Software Complementation Project,” a joint initiative with FAKKU, which is serving as the Steam publisher. Since its original release on the PC-98, the game has been ported to platforms such as the X68000, FM TOWNS, MSX2, and PC Engine.

One night, the protagonist, Cole, is summoned by his friend, Dr. Cougar, a scientist. The doctor has created a “resurrection potion” capable of bringing the dead back to life. Although he succeeded in reviving corpses, the reanimated bodies lost their former personalities and turned into zombies craving human brains.

Soon, the test subjects escape, and the dead begin rising from their graves one after another, causing the city to be overrun by zombies. Cole and his companions must throw themselves into battle to survive and save the world from the destruction they have brought upon it.

This title is characterized by intense splatter scenes. While it is primarily a point-and-click adventure game, combat against zombies transitions into first-person shooting segments, featuring high-action sequences where players must shoot enemies within a time limit.
The Steam version faithfully recreates the original game content while upscaling the pixel art. It also includes music composed using FM synthesis, and a soundtrack DLC is planned for release.
"Dead of the Brain" is scheduled for release on PC (Steam) on October 31 with Japanese language support. A free demo will be available starting October 20.
