Gaming Factory has announced "JDM: Ph4ntom Driver," a spin-off of the Japan-set open-world racing game "JDM: Japanese Drift Master."

Life-or-death driving against an army of yokai

This title is a combat-focused, open-world racing game with strong fantasy elements, blending the world of *JDM: Japanese Drift Master* with Japanese folklore.

The setting is the “Spirit Realm” (aptly named “Gunkon Prefecture”), based on the fictional “Gun’gyoku Prefecture” that also appears in *JDM: Japanese Drift Master*. The protagonist stumbles into this realm and finds himself trapped in a desolate world overrun by various yokai, such as ogres and giant centipedes.

To battle the yokai army, players will use their customized cars—enhanced with new vehicles and parts obtained throughout the map. Whether charging at breakneck speeds or ramming opponents while drifting, players will turn their driving skills into combat power and fight to survive.

Game modes include a single-player-only campaign where the story unfolds through hand-drawn manga panels and a dialogue system. There are also reportedly plans to implement a multiplayer mode.

Although this title was originally conceived as an expansion pack for *JDM: Japanese Drift Master*, it has become a standalone game that can be enjoyed on its own due to significant changes to the game’s core mechanics.

However, the developers state that this will not affect support for *JDM: Japanese Drift Master*; a livery system is scheduled to be implemented in that title soon, and they say other surprises are in store as well.

*JDM: Ph4ntom Driver* is scheduled for release on PC (Steam) and will support Japanese. As of this writing, the release date and price have not yet been determined.
