Tic Tac Toe Digital and Kwalee are currently offering a demo version of the gun sim "Ballistic.exe" on Steam.
Build the perfect weapon for you by fully utilizing your knowledge of firearms, from barrel length to bullet spread

This firearms sim lets you assemble weapons in a workshop inside a mysterious facility and repeatedly test-fire your creations at a shooting range.

Every time you successfully hit targets such as fruit or light bulbs, a mysterious man who calls himself the “boss” rewards you with in-game currency and other items. Use these to purchase more parts and upgrade your gun to a higher-performance model.
In the full version, there will be over 1,000 types of gun components—including barrels, triggers, and stocks—and more than 200 types of ammunition. Customize dozens of weapons in meticulous detail to build the ultimate companion that’s perfect for you.

Unlike typical FPS games, a key feature of this game is that the movement of the gun itself and the aiming of the muzzle are controlled independently. Aiming straight may prove challenging until you get used to it.
Furthermore, bullet velocity is determined by the combination of bullet weight, bullet profile, and barrel length. The game features an ultra-realistic system where countless parameters—including gravity, wind, the Coriolis and Magnus effects, as well as temperature and humidity—affect ballistics, so even hitting a target at point-blank range requires intense training.

In the demo version, you can handle multiple firearms, such as break-action single-shot rifles and Sten submachine guns, and you can swap out about 10 different parts—including barrels and sights—for each gun.Not only does each gun have a different reloading method, but you’ll also need to master operations such as ejecting spent shells (e.g., with lever-action rifles), handling safety mechanisms and hammers, and dealing with malfunctions like misfires.
Furthermore, depending on the part, prices range from 20 to 600, so you’ll need a fair amount of money to buy everything. On top of that, you’ll need to manage your budget, as high-quality ammunition also costs money. As a result, even though it’s just a demo version, it offers a substantial amount of content.
The displayed parameters—such as MOA and propellant burn rate—are all highly technical. If you have the knowledge, you can analyze them in detail; otherwise, you’ll have to rely on experience and intuition.
“Ballistic.exe,” a firearms sim packed with obsessive attention to detail and a must-see for gun enthusiasts, is scheduled for release on Steam for PC sometime in 2027.
