Microsoft and The Coalition reported via their official X account for the community that the network outage affecting *Gears of War: E-Day* from October 11 to 12 was caused by a cyberattack.

They plan to make another announcement if significant changes are made as part of the response

During the affected period, the game experienced intermittent connection issues—including sudden disconnections during startup—as well as login problems and other service disruptions. The report states that the outage was caused by a DDoS attack that placed excessive load on external servers. The response team is continuing to monitor the situation and implement countermeasures, and they will issue another announcement if any significant changes are made.

Cyberattacks have become increasingly frequent across all industries in recent times. In the gaming sector in particular, where account-based management and multiplayer modes have made online environments the norm, we await further updates on how the developers will successfully implement countermeasures while maintaining a balance with user convenience.
